Welcome to My New Personal Blog

Now that Posterous is closing down, I've decided to create a new personal blog. Rather than download my posts from Posterous and post them here, I'm just going to start from scratch. I don't think I ever really did it right the first time anyway.

The fist thing I want to talk about in my welcome message is  what inspired me to get started with my new blog on April Fools' Day. I decided to do it today because I saw a post in one of my Facebook writing groups for the Blogging From A to Z Challenge. I had never heard of it, and thought it sounded like fun. That means I start today. Now is as good a time as any.

The second thing I want to talk about is my nickname: KristenHead. Many people seem to think it's dirty when I first tell them, but it's not. It's actually a funny story, which I will explain when I get to the letter "K" in the challenge.

Lastly, I want to talk about why I've decided to have a personal blog in the first place. I want to have a blog because I am a writer. I still do web development and programming, which was my original job, but now I make my living writing.

I want a place to keep up with my writing on days when I don't have any assignments, and to have a place to simply think about random things that I normally don't get to write about. This is a place for me to use as a tool to practice my writing, try new things and have fun.

  1. Hey Kristen! Thanks for following. Be sure to add the Google Friends Connect widget so I can follow back.

    1. Hi Alex. I could find no way to add it, because it has been discontinued. Do you know a way to work around that? They've replaced it with G+ Followers, which I've added. Thanks for the comment!

    2. I actually found a piece of code that allowed me to get around the problem, but it just won't allow me to show the list of faces. It's just a button, which I've place on the top of the right sidebar. Thanks for letting me know about it!
