Every Day in May: Acquaintances Bawling Over Things that Don't Matter

I'm doing the Blog Every Day in May challenge, and today's prompt is "Things that make you uncomfortable." There are quite a few things that make me very uncomfortable, but the two worst are actual phobias: spiders and speaking in public. Something that makes me very uncomfortable without being an actual phobia is when an acquaintance begins bawling about something silly, hoping you will come console them.

This is really weird in two ways. First of all, if I barely know someone, I'm not going to want to hug them, much less console them as they cry on my shoulder. That is beyond uncomfortable. Second, I don't want to hear about that acquaintance's pain over their delusion that their boyfriend or husband is into girls who are skinnier than they are. Huh? If it were me, I would just find a new boyfriend or husband. Even better, I may not even bother with a boyfriend. Are we in high school?

I'm keeping it short today because of the crazy long, confusing post of yesterday. Plus, I wrote a ton of articles today. Luckily, I have no writing assignments over the weekend, so I can catch up on comments. I'll be seeing all of you around soon!

  1. Kristen,

You are funny. I tend to agree with you on all the points you made.

I need to get caught up with these too. I was gone all day, so have a ton to write also.

    1. Yes! If someone wants to take control of their life and be happy, they need to put the people in their lives who will make them happy. :) Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Yeah... that would be odd. It's never happened to me, though. Maybe you have a certain sort of aura that draws people like that? ;-P

    1. Haha! I think being stuck with people I didn't know in a small space may have been part of the problem. :) Thanks for stopping by!

  5. I have one huge phobia and a couple of smaller ones. But my biggest one is bee's. I don't know what it is about those tiny, ugly insects that throw me into a hyperventilating tizzy but I really dislike them.

    1. I've actually been bitten quite a few times when I was a kid because we had a hive nearby, so I'm actually a bit more uncomfortable by bees now than I used to be. Thanks for stopping by!
