D is for 'Defiance' (and Dogs)

Defiance is a futuristic SyFy series, with accompanying video game. The Season 2 premiere will be June 19 at 8 p.m. this year. It takes place in 2046, at a time when aliens known as Votans have visited Earth after their own planet was destroyed. There was already a lot of tension between the two races when one of the Votan spaceships exploded, creating an event known as "Arkfall." Terraforming technology was released from the ships, completely transforming Earth, and creating new species of transformed creatures. Some of old Earth still resides under parts of the terraformed surface.

I would never have thought to write about this show until Yahoo TV asked if I'd like to write weekly about an exclusive video they'd be posting the week before the next episode. I had a very short amount of time to write each article, and had access to the first four minutes of each episode before others got to see it. Because of the quick turnaround, I got a healthy payment for each one. I even got to write up an article for the tweet chat they did with the star of the show, Grant Bowler!

Fortunately, I really enjoy the show because it's full-on sci-fi, with plenty of action, aliens, and lots of freakish, out-there, weird stuff... which means it's awesome!
"D" is also for dogs! I have a gorgeous Standard Poodle named Lulu, and my brother just got a new Lab. This is a gif of their first meeting... it's going to take awhile for Lulu to get used to him.

    I've seen a couple episodes of Defiance. I can only say that I got busy with other things and haven't gotten back to it. I have some catching up to do!

    I'm watching season one right now on DVD. It is actually a really good show. Love the picture of the "boat" at the end.

    Another good show, my wife can't stand it but she's not big on SciFi either so it's her loss.

    Wow! Kisten, what a nice gig to land for pay and awesome you get to see the first bit of the new episodes. That's great! I've never heard of this show, but I don't watch much TV.
