A Missing Eye and Vintage Chinese: Day 18

Today's #FMSPhotoADay prompt for Day 18 (Sep. 18) is "Vintage." My mother has a 100 year-old vintage Chinese man. You would think that my mother was Chinese, as she has always decorated her home with a bit of a Chinese flair. Even when she decorates in another style, there's always a Chinese tinge or feel to the design.

Kitties from Behind and on the Chimney: Day 17

Before I get into my daily stuff, I have some great news! In the past, I've written recaps for Person of Interest, Elementary, and Grimm for Yahoo! TV. Today's nonsense comes from my thoughts about my fireplace. I don't know why I was thinking about the fireplace when it's still so hot during the day, but perhaps it comes from seeing my cats hanging out on the roof, leaning against the top of the chimney. You'll Be All Ears When I Talk about My Frame: Day 16

My Copper recap for Sunday's episode was published this morning. The episode felt strangely like a finale until the very end. It was an awesome episode, but they almost could have ended it without the little cliffhanger ending, and we would have been happy until next year. But no, they had to add something that will surely cover more than just one episode. That means we will probably have another cliffhanger in the finale. The #FMSPhotoADay prompt for today is "Frame." I decided to take a photo of our brand new windows, with their new frames. The windows are tinted so that they reflect light durning the day, and you can't see inside. At night, we will be closing the blinds. We are using sheets until the new blinds come in. We are replacing the horizontals with verticals so we no longer have to spend our lives dusting.

Anyway, I had to take the photos at an extreme angle to avoid getting a shot that appeared as though it was a mere photo of the house across the street. Both photos are of the window and its frame. That's right, you are looking at a reflection of my car and some trees. I took second photo from another angle to give you a better idea of what you are looking at:

Blank Lines in the Fall: Day 15

My nonsense post for the day was the longest I've written so far at two whole paragraphs. All my others are only one. I tend to do a lot of math in my head, and thinking of shapes and puzzles and logic and such, so perhaps I got a bit in the weeds once the subject of lines entered my head. One of my favorite trees in the corner of the yard already has a few yellow leaves, and others that are not quite as green as they used to be:

Androids Need Sheep and I Need Water: Day 14

My daily nonsense diverges from counting sheep to a very strange place in the back of my mind. I think these things are the result of growing up on a steady stream of Twilight Zone and other sci-fi shows. Heck, the first movie I ever saw in the theater as a kid was Star Wars! My mother was and is a sci-fi addict, and raised me to be one too. She never shut down my wild thoughts, or told me my ideas weren't any good.

So, this is the kind of crazy that comes from a free mind. I encourage others to join me in insanity! Lava Suits and Kicking water: Day 13

So my daily nonsense post got a little weird today. I think it was based on the fact that I heard some strange barking a couple of houses down, which always makes me worry a little about my cats. I have to do the rounds and make sure I can see them all resting in their favorite spots in the yard. If I don't see one or more of them, I have just a little spot in my stomach that worries until I see them again.

The other thing was that I watched Star Trek: Into Darkness with my visiting family last night. There's a scene with tons of lava spilling around and what is basically a "lava suit." The #FMSPhotoADay prompt for Day 13 (Sep 13) is "Unexpected." While visiting, my brother accidentally kicked his own water glass, soaking something I had been working on. Luckily, I have it saved on my computer.

I have an auto-inflating queen-size bed that he sets up in the living room, and it butts up against the coffee table. He then sets his glasses of water and wine right next to the foot of the bed when he goes to sleep (good thing he always finishes the wine before bed). This is the first time he has knocked over his water. I actually felt bad for him because it woke him from deep sleep, and he had to get up to clean it. This, in turn, caused him to sleep in, leaving him little time to get ready to hit the road for home.

Smoking Men and Kitty Shadows: Day 12

Bubblews was down for most of the day, so I was a little late getting my "Daily Jabberwocky" nonsense posted. This one was one of my favorites, because of the layout. I don't want to give anything away in case you want to read it, because I'd like it to be a surprise. Day 11 TV, Nonsense and Photo: 'Suits,' Short Aliens and Cute Kitty

First thing this morning, my Suits recap was published on Yahoo! TV. It was another great episode, leading up to the Season 3 finale next week.If you haven't checked it out, you can catch it on Amazon, and a few other outlets as well. Next, I created my morning nonsense post. This time, I had aliens on the brain (as is common for me). The prompt for #FMSPhotoADay Day 11 is "What You Did Today." For 9/11, I wanted to spend the day with loved ones. I'm here with my parents, and my brother is visiting as well. I'm not really into posting photos of my family for privacy, but I also have pets as part of my family. So, to start the morning off right, I cuddled with my kitty loved one (yes, another excuse for cute kitty photos)! Here's Miss Kitty at her cuddling best:

Day 10 Nonsense and Photo: Bubbles and Homemade Ice Cream!

I didn't have anything to write for Yahoo! today, but I did get a tentative OK for writing a series of animated Tweet-caps I proposed to my editor. It's not for sure, because the managing editor has to OK it, and they may also need to get authorization from the network as well. Other than that, it's a go, so I'm excited they liked the idea!

For my daily bit of nonsense, I came up with something that is both odd and meaningful at the same time. There's a hidden meaning about plagiarism using a fart as a metaphor. I didn't want to offend anyone, so I didn't use the actual word. I hope I didn't offend anyone just now! The funny thing is that the fart (sorry) represents what to do right! The #FMSPhotoADay prompt for today (Day 10, Sep. 10) is "Sweet." So, I took a picture of my homemade ice cream. I ate the rest of my chocolate, so I took a photo of some vanilla. I put it in the chocolate container, so the brown stuff on the sides is from left-over chocolate. YUM!

Another Triple: 'Copper,' Violent Shirt Tigers, and More Kitty Photos!

The first thing I did very early this morning (which could also be considered late last night) was to write my recap for Copper. It's not due until morning, but I actually got up at 3:30 am. Why? Because Miss Kitty slept with me on my bed, and mama's boy Booty decided to walk down the hall and meow up a storm for mama's attention until she got fed up and asked to be let out in the front yard.

I tried to get back to sleep, but was wide awake at that point. So, I went ahead and wrote my article before finally getting tired again and going back to sleep. I should actually do that more often, because I got a special message from my editor saying that the recap was particularly good, and that my tone was superb. My lack of sleep paid off!

Anyway, another reason I feel the recap was good was because I really enjoyed the episode. It left off on a nail-biting cliffhanger, and contained an awesome scene between Matthew and the shop owner. Later, I wrote my "Daily Jabberwocky" nonsense post. I don't know what made me think of living tigers bursting out of my shirt, but it was sure a fun thought to have in my head! Finally, I have to share three #FMSPhotoADay posts at the same time once again, because I decided to take off the weekend to do some organizing. My last post was also a triple-header because I was busy remodeling the windows on the front of my house. This time, I decided to use the weekend to do some organizing and cleaning after the remodel.

Anyway, the photo prompts for #FMSPhotoADay were "White" for Day 7, "Made by Me" for Day 8, and "On the Wall" for today, Day 9 (Sep 9). The descriptions for each photo are in the captions:

Day 7, "White": I showcase white here by contrasting it with black.
Tippy is all dark black, except for his cute little tippy tale and chin.

Day 8, "Made by Me": Some "delicious" cat food.
Made with raw turkey and a package of kitty vitamin supplements.

Jotting Junky Jabberwocky

Do you remember "Jabberwocky," the nonsense poem written by Lewis Carrol? Well, that title is the word I use to describe the nonsense I write (or that goes through my head) each day.

Before I found the Yahoo Contributor Network, I used to use Gather for posting a few thoughts here and there. One thing I posted was just a stream of nonsense. It wasn't a poem or anything, just a load of junk.

That junk was my most popular post. So, I decided to do the "Daily Nonsense" post. It didn't last very long, because I got too busy to keep up with it, but most of them did pretty well. Some people thought the posts were hilarious, some thought I was trying to make some sort of point and others were just plain confused by it all.

I guess the confusion stemmed from the fact that my version of nonsense almost makes a bit of sense at times. It's like I'm trying to make some sort of point that just isn't coming clear. Perhaps that is the case. Perhaps the nonsense flowing from my brain during my moments of "brain correction" really are trying to make a point that is not yet clear.

For a fresh example, I will now present nonsense that is flowing from the back of my brain at this very moment, as I write:

Although there are no ducks or geese in my Jabberwocky,
I thought this photo I took of ducks and goose butts
matched the level nonsense (and hopefully humor)
of the text.

My heart is with the golden ticket, up the junket, to the right of the mayonnaise mountains. They flow for miles, through the rocks and turtles, until a pink parasol lands on them and hurls them through the air on the imaginary flight of fancy. The trinkets of ol' are on the ship already, flying to Mars for their big debut.

It's not until they reach the outer planets that they will be truly missed by their parents and offspring. It all goes into the funnel at one point or another. It's just that this time, they will be on top of a red pointy thing with ears. I just figured that out: it's for my teeth.

Show them all you have in the carrot of the soul. It's going to wear out soon enough anyway. Don't stop it from going down the tube though, or you may be stuck with a lumbar support and a jackrabbit, cuddled up together in space.

There it is, folks! I didn't change anything after the fact, although I did correct the spelling of the word "mayonnaise," and added a bit of punctuation.

The funny thing is that, even before I began posting my nonsense on Gather, I used to tell this stream of nonsense to a friend. This was way back in high school. One day, she asked me to tell her a story, but I didn't have anything to say. So I told a story as a stream of nonsense. She couldn't stop laughing. She was laughing so hard, I thought she was going to break a rib. After that moment, she would ask me to tell her another nonsense story whenever there was a lull in our conversation.
