Today's A to Z Challenge letter |
It all happened because of my bad back. My back went out a few years ago, and I was stuck on the floor. I was in San Diego, my mother was away on a business meeting, and my father lived two hours away and had to work. My brother and cousin lived nearby, but they both had to work as well. So I just ate whatever I could reach, and painfully crawled to the bathroom when I couldn't hold it anymore.
So, unbeknownst to me, my mother called my cousin (whose schedule was not as hectic as my brother's), and asked him to help me out. He did just that, and it was very sweet. I was a little out of it, but he helped me get some food to eat, and we talked for a little while until he had to leave. End of story.
Or so I thought. For the next week, my cousin would say "Kristenhead? Don't ever call me Kristenhead," each time he saw me. He had been on a "head" kick lately, calling everyone Something-head, so I just ignored him and figured it had to do with that.

OK, now that part I don't remember. I told him that maybe I was just kidding, but he said that I wasn't kidding. In fact, I seemed like I was really upset about it, and he left feeling sort of bad. I had no clue! We both thought this new revelation was hilarious, and started cracking up about it.

Hey Kristenhead!! ;-) Love your story, and thanks for using the audio recording. I think I might try that next!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! That was my first time using SoundCloud, but I remembered seeing it on the site of a DJ I just interviewed. The site is really easy to use.
DeleteSo that's the story behind Kristenhead! Lol, who would have thought.
ReplyDelete:)
I'm pretty sure nobody would have guessed it. :) Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteGreat story Kristenhead !!! Have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, you too!
DeleteKristenhead!!!! Great one. ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you. :)
DeleteHa ha, thanks for sharing that. Having a bad back is the worst, glad your ok now. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt keeps going out, but it also keeps being OK. :) Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteIsn't it funny how we earn our nicknames! Fun story! Happy A-to-Z 2013! ~Angela, Whole Foods Living, http://www.wholefoodsliving.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love whole foods living, btw. :)
DeleteHello kristenhed !! I will call u Kristen head
ReplyDeleteLol. Funny revelation
Can't hear ur audio on mobile though ?
What are there in it and what's your actual name :) !?
I think you may be able to hear it if you click on the links underneath. It's just me, saying "Kristenhead? Don't ever call me Kristenhead!" In the first one, I say it like I'm upset, and in the second, I say it really fast. Kristen is the name my parents have called me since I was born, so that really is my name. :)
DeleteIf there's one thing I've learned, it's that all nicknames have stories behind them. Loved reading this! Also, your blog's background is gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm so sorry I couldn't come by earlier. Being 16 generally means you have to tag along with your parents everywhere, which also equals falling behind my planned A-Z schedule.
Love,

Thank you for the compliments! The background was a photo I took at Hesperia Lake in California.

Some things come to "own" us in the most peculiar manner. I won't call you "Kristenhead"; I'll say you were fortunate to have a cousin who loved you, and came to your help.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!

My cousin was raised with us, so he's really like a second brother. He's only a month younger than my brother too, so they're like twins. They're both great guys. :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by.
Cute story! Thanks for sharing it. That was nice of your cousin to come to your rescue. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, he's a great guy. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteOh....that's perfect! Great story! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love assigning nicknames. The problem comes in when you've assigned one without that person's approval and since you call them that in you head...you make the mistake of calling them that where they can hear it. lol

Oops! Don't want to do that! :) Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteSounds like the drugs to me...
ReplyDeleteHaha! Actually, I only had a little ibuprofen because I didn't want to move the wrong way and make it worse without realizing it.
DeleteInteresting story. It's always fun to hear how people got their nicknames.
ReplyDeleteDark Thoughts Blog
I always like hearing the stories too. :)
DeleteAren't families wonderful. They come up with the best nicknames.
ReplyDeleteThey really do. Although, I'm not too fond of some of the "dirty nicknames" my brother and cousin started coming up with! LOL
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Too funny! I have always wondered about that nickname. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like the story of it. Thanks for stopping by! :)
DeleteWhat a funny story! I really enjoyed reading it. I was wondering about the name, too.
ReplyDeleteWondered where you got that from. Who knew all those years ago that it would also make a cool blog name? You got lucky there. ;)
