Everyday in May: 250 Life Story

I don't want to stop keeping my blog fresh, so I've decided to do the"blog every day in May" challenge:

There aren't really any rules, although they give topics for each day. These are going to be short because I'm going to try to concentrate on finishing some work, and I'm also going to be visiting everyone in the A to Z Challenge throughout the year. I also have a couple of awards to except in the next couple of days.

Anyway, today's topic is to share my life story in 250 words or less. Here goes!

I was born and raised in Southern California, but we lived in six different places. I've lived everywhere from a farm to a big city. I originally thought I was horrible at math, but it turned out that I never had any good math teachers.

I finally learned to teach myself, and ended up going to UC San Diego (not to be confused with San Diego State, which is a party school -- UCSD is the opposite of a party school) to study Aerospace Engineering, then Computer Engineering. Computer Engineering is half software, and half electrical engineering.

After college, I worked at the San Diego Supercomputer Center for awhile, then got a job in a basement creating some of the first auto-spamming software. I didn't realize that was what I was doing at the time, and didn't feel good about it when I realized what I was doing.

I then went on to save a company from destruction when the three people who new how to do all of the computer-related work left the company. After all that, I got bored with IT, software, and web development, and decided to become a writer. I now write articles for a living.

I have a dog, and have rescued seven cats. My joys in life are playing with them, and spending time with my parents and brother whenever I get the chance.

-----------

Whew! That's my life!

  1. Blog everyday in May? You certainly have lots of energy to do that.
I like dogs but don't get along very well with cats, and my dogs don't get along well with them either. You must have one friendly dog. :)

    1. It probably has to do with the fact that we had to start taking her to the groomers at 8 weeks old, and take her every three weeks because she's a poodle, so she has hair like humans (it never stops growing). The groomer takes cats as well, so she's been around cats her whole life. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I'm impressed that you're moving from a-to-z right into an every day thing.
    Yes, yes, I am.

  3. I blog everyday anyway, have been for quite some time so the A to Z Challenge didn't bother me. It was coming up with a post that gets me sometimes. lol I was born and raised in Redondo Beach, California. I kinda miss the ocean since I now live in the desert of Las Vegas.

    1. I have also enjoyed it. I write articles almost every day, so even though I didn't have a blog before, I'm used to the writing part. I'm going to be living part time in Vegas soon! :) Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I would encourage you to blog five days a week instead of every day. There's plenty of concrete evidence that practically no one reads blogs on Saturday and Sunday, so blogging on those days is a waste of time for internet traffic.

For what it's worth, I've blogged five days a week for over two years.

    1. I enjoy writing each day, so I don't actually mind if nobody reads those posts. I guess I don't require the views for my blog because I already get the views I need when I write articles. The blog is more for enjoyment, and to help me practice writing, and just have fun. I do like it when people read my posts, but it's more like icing on the cake. :) Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Good for you Kristen! I'm in the throes of #ROW80 and am getting ready for clinical trials for YOPD in June, so will sit this one out. I will be here cheering you on. I've been (trying) to blog regularly, but with worsening symptoms of Parkinson's Disease, some days I can't type 2 words. I did want to comment on something you said about teaching yourself math. One of my viola professors late in the game told me something which I've passed on to my many (generations of) students: "we're all self-taught. Ultimately, we all look for a style, or pattern or learn the basics, then apply our own signature, or standard." All I ever did when I taught viola or violin was inspire. The kid did the rest.

    1. Thanks so much for the lovely quote! On a side note, I've heard that playing stringed instruments such as viola can help you with math. Are you good at math? My mom played viola and is terrifically fast when calculating math problems in her head, even though she doesn't even like math. :) Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Haha, yes, I guess I did! And then I learned that I wasn't going to get very far with it, so I switched to Computer Engineering, which became the future. I'm pretty glad I switched. :) Thanks for stopping by!

    1. The rules aren't very strict. You can miss as many days as you want, and each day has a separate list of blog posts for the day. So you could wait until the last day if you wanted to and just do that! :) Thanks for stopping by!

I'm glad you decided to become a writer, because I think you write well. I'm trying to write every day, too, though it may not be on my blog.
